![]() Unfortunately, tarot scams and fraud have become more and more frequent, between piracy of actual decks and the array of fake sites pretending to sell decks at a fraction of the price, but send you nothing. Remember: if the price is too good to be true, it probably is! Today, I am writing about the “triangulation scheme” that has been going on using tarot & oracle decks, and other popular selling items on Etsy. Specifically, items that are being scraped off Etsy and sold at half price on Mercari recently. Basically, a genuine buyer orders on Mercari thinking it’s a real listing (and an amazing deal!). Then, the scammer purchases the item from the original Etsy shop at full price using a stolen credit card. The scammer enters the address of the Mercari buyer, who then receives the product, never realizing the scheme happened.
I recently found out all of my Etsy listings have been posted in SIX different accounts on Mercari. The scammer accounts stole all of my photos and listing descriptions and posted them in their various Mercari shops. Please use caution when purchasing new tarot, oracle, and lenormand decks on Mercari right now. Chances are it will be a scam account. Some creators may sell their new items there, but I do not. I never sell on Mercari or other similar sites. I only sell here on my website and on Etsy. Sadly, I have to temporarily deactivate my Etsy shop to thwart these scammers. (Update: I have reopened my Etsy shop. However, with caution.) Orders can still be placed here in my shop. Please report any suspicious fake listings if you have a Mercari account. Particularly ones that are using my original photographs and descriptions. Obviously, there are people who resell their used decks on Mercari, and that's fine. I am referring to listings that are claiming to sell my decks as new. Spread the word if you can to alert other deck creators and protect our self-publishers and independent creators. Thank you!
