Suspension of judgement and of the Manas (Sanskrit meaning personal mental activity, the word man comes from Manas, so the traditional title "the Hanged Man" means to suspend the mind.) A significator card is used to represent the person who is getting their tarot cards read, aka the querent. It is chosen from the deck being used and is generally a court card. For example, a card reader sitting with an older gentleman may choose the King of Swords to represent him before shuffling & laying out the rest of the cards. This card selection can vary depending on the reader's designations.
Some card readers will not use a significator at all as they don't want to remove what could potentially be a crucial card to come up during the reading. Some readers will use a card from another tarot or oracle deck altogether to represent the questioner. Others will ask for a picture to use during the session. Included in the Antiquarian Tarot deck are bonus significator cards, which allows the reader to use one instead of a card from the deck. Significator cards are always optional. You don't have to use one in your reading, but I find it is useful to help focus the reading. The Antiquarian Tarot comes with 80 cards:
22 Major Arcana based on the Rider-Waite-Smith deck 56 Minor Arcana cards titled Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles 2 Bonus Significator cards: one for a male sitter and one for a female sitter The Tarot comes in a padded, zipper case and is available in three sizes! For more information and to purchase the Antiquarian Tarot, visit the DivineMuses Shop. My tarot deck, just like my lenormand, is a handmade collage project that has taken an immense amount of my creative input. Each card is lovingly and attentively crafted. I have 8 cards left to complete the 78 card deck and then I will reveal some of the images. I have been quiet about this as I have been staying focused in my sacred Tarot study and wanting to keep the magic contained during my creation process. This deck is first of all a deck for my own practice and self-evolution, but I'm excited to offer it to others who may resonate with the work.
