The 3rd edition Antiquarian Tarot is a reissued tarot deck created & self-released by Maree Bento in 2014. It is a Western Occult based deck with astrology and color system that invites deeper intuitive readings, tarot study, self-reflection, and magical practice.
This redesigned set has been updated with new cards, a beautiful reflection pool back, matching pouch, and revised companion guidebook.
The detailed tarot companion book gives the Initiate, or beginner, access to learning Tarot with ease, and the Adept reader details about the symbolism in the artwork.

The Antiquarian Tarot is an exquisite love letter to Tarot and vintage collage. It's clear that Maree Bento poured so much passion into the creation of this deck. The guidebook looks excellent, too. Maree's explanation of Qabalah actually made sense to me and I've always had a hard time wrapping my head around it. This deck is a beautiful work of art and a fantastic learning tool for both novice and expert. It will meet you where you are with plenty of room to grow. I'm thrilled to have this in my collection. –Laura Borealis

The Antiquarian Tarot is a working tarot deck for the modern reader, magician, witch, or mystic. It's a deck for old souls, past life connections, and ancestral work due to the archivist nature of the artwork and study.
It features handmade collages using 19th-century photography & artwork created by Maree for her personal use & sacred Tarot study in 2013, which she also self-released to the public in 2014.
The cards have their corresponding astrology symbols. The Major Arcana cards also have their associated Hebrew letter. Both are based on the Golden Dawn designations.
This deck is largely based on the Rider Waite Smith Tarot (RWS) with occult influences from Paul Foster Case, and a sprinkle of Crowley's Thoth Tarot. Anyone with knowledge of RWS can work with the Antiquarian Tarot.

A Deeper Look at this Tarot by Maree
The initial inspiration for the Antiquarian Tarot was the Albano Waite Tarot, one of my first working decks. The principles of this deck are based on the RWS combined with Paul Foster Case's work, which form the foundation for the Albano Waite Tarot.
The Major Arcana's wallpaper background is based on the colors that were assigned by Paul Foster Case. The Minor Arcana is also derived from his coloration symbolism, and similar to the Albano Waite:
○ Wands have orange backgrounds
(court cards are red) for Fire.
○ Cups are Aqua
(court cards are lt. blue) for Water.
○ Swords are yellow
(court cards are gold) for Air.
○ Pentacles are green
(court cards are violet) for Earth.
This system of colors makes it easy to determine which elements are predominant in a reading or which are missing. This is especially helpful for visual people and can help facilitate intuition during a card reading.
Color is an ancient correspondence that was used in healing and magic along with the planets, the elements, herbs, spirits, and numbers. So it is significant in this work.

3rd Edition Updates
The 3rd edition changes were kept to a minimum so as to retain the original intention and creative magic during my initial deck creation process.
There were about 20 cards that were updated. Most were minor changes to cards that called to me over the years to refine them. A few cards were completely transformed. I also added an extra Lovers card, which was a collage I created for the upcoming Magical Child Oracle.
I also revised the companion book to reflect these changes.

A Closer Look at the Book
If you're looking for an introduction to the tarot, I wrote a detailed companion guidebook for my deck with instruction on how to start reading the cards. It's clear and concise, yet offers the new student ample information about each card.
The appendices have tables and references to make learning the tarot accessible. Including:
○ Myers-Briggs Type Indicators connected to the the Court Cards
○ Tables with quick access to keywords
○ List of Tarot correspondences
My guidebook is largely based on occult mysticism and the sacred Tarot. Much of modern occult wisdom was passed down through the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, which scores of decks & books have drawn from. My knowledge pulls from these Western occult sources (found in the bibliography).
