Cancer III Decan: Four of Cups, Moon in Cancer

Yesterday, we entered the third decan of Cancer, represented by the Four of Cups—the Moon in Cancer decan. The High Priestess (Moon) and Chariot (Cancer-ruled). The Golden Dawn title for the Four of Cups is The Lord of Blended Pleasure.

Four of Cups can bring up feelings of boredom, apathy and discontent in one's life. As we see in the RWS Cups Four, an angelic hand reaches out to show the young person the bounty that sits right in front of them. But, they don't even notice the miracle of this divine hand.

The message for this Cancer III time is to open our eyes to the miracles that all around, even within the mundane. It's easy to get sucked into the minutiae of life, or to overwhelm ourselves with so much that we forget what's important.

The Four of Cups can show one is preoccupied with oneself to the exclusion of the outside world. For the next week, I see this message as getting out of one's head and getting out into the world. Seeing and living life with an optimistic lens rather than a pessimistic one.

In the Thoth Four of Cups, we see two overflowing cups spilling into the two cups below. Something that seems quite abundant, but the skies are grey, signaling an energy that is clouding things.

In the Lua Tarot's Four of Cups, a woman sit on a stone bench, looking languidly at a rose, next to her a small plant grows toward her, as if begging for her attention. She is surrounded by the beauty of nature, yet seems to be lost in thought, taking it all for granted.

David, Dante, and I are going for a hike this weekend, getting out of our house and into nature. It seems this card is reflecting a sort of cabin fever for us. Stuck inside. (Dante had a knee injury. We had to make sure he stayed immobile for 2 weeks to heal, a challenge for a whippet, and for us who were ready to go on our vacation, but had to cancel our plans.)
