Tarot deck perfection. I'm so in love with the deck and the book. The images are evocative, symbology is perfect, and the book is excellent. As an awesome plus, the card stock is silky and beautiful, easily one of my top 5 decks. ~Rori M.

The Antiquarian Tarot features handmade collages using 19th-century artwork & cabinet card photography; creating a modern usable deck with Victorian flair. Each card was lovingly and attentively crafted to form a functional working deck as well as an engaging work of art. Information about each card's artwork is found in the companion guidebook.
If you're looking for an introduction to the tarot, there is a detailed companion guidebook with instruction on how to start reading the cards. It's clear and concise, yet offers the new student ample information about each card. The appendices has tables and references to make learning the tarot accessible.
This deck is based on the Rider-Waite-Smith (RWS) Tarot and anyone with knowledge of it can work with the Antiquarian Tarot. If you're just starting to explore the tarot, many teachers recommend learning with the RWS, but the Antiquarian Tarot is a lovely alternative if you want something with a unique design and antique aesthetic.
ABOUT THE CARDS
The Antiquarian Tarot comes with 80 cards:
22 Major Arcana based on the widely used RWS deck
56 Minor Arcana titles: Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles
2 extra Significator cards: one for a male sitter & one for a female sitter
Comes with a matching padded zipper-case (with red inner-lining)
Mini/Bridge: 2.25"X3.5" (57mm×89mm) SOLD OUT
Standard: 2.75''×4.75'' (70mm×120mm)
FRENCH CARD STOCK (310 gsm)
The premium linen finish is a lovely card stock with a very light, almost unseen, texture. It feels wonderful in the hands, shuffles like a dream and is durable and flexible. This card stock lays flat and doesn't change shape after shuffling and handling. It is much easier to shuffle the mini-sized tarot in the linen card stock.
MORE ABOUT THE DECK
The initial inspiration for the Antiquarian Tarot was the Albano-Waite Tarot, one of my first working decks. The principles of this deck are based on the RWS tarot combined with Paul Foster Case's work, which form the foundation for the Albano-Waite Tarot.
The Major Arcana's wallpaper is based on the colors that were assigned by Paul Foster Case. The Minor Arcana is also derived from his coloration symbolism and similar to the Albano-Waite:
Wands have orange backgrounds (court cards are red)
Cups are aqua (court cards are light blue)
Swords are yellow (court cards are gold)
Pentacles are green (court cards are violet)
This system of colors makes it easy to determine which elements are predominant in a reading or which are missing. This is especially helpful for visual people and may help facilitate clairvoyance during a card reading.
The astrology glyphs (and Hebrew letters on the Major Arcana) that are marked on the cards are based on the Golden Dawn associations.
ABOUT THE GUIDEBOOK
The Antiquarian Tarot Companion Guidebook has 396 pages with a wonderfully tactile silk laminate cover. If you are a tarot novice, it will be a great introductory primer. If you are a seasoned reader, the book offers information about the cards explaining why certain symbols are used. The guidebook includes images and details about each of the cards, as well as appendices with tables and references for easy access to tarot information.
Much of modern occult wisdom was passed down through the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, which scores of decks & books have drawn from. My knowledge pulls from this, as well as Hindu ideology. In his early writings & studies, Paul Foster Case refers to Hindu philosophy and that may be why I am drawn to his work. My guidebook is largely based on the sacred tarot and occult mysticism, with some Hindu theory sprinkled throughout. There is info about the chakras, as well as how to connect with the cards through meditation and mystical practice.
Silk laminate cover, 396 pages: 4.25" x 7" x 1" (108mm x 178mm x 25mm)
