The Devil's Role at this Capricorn Lunar Eclipse

This Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is exact tonight at 9:44pm PDT in Capricorn. It’s the USA’s birthday too, and it has been going through major difficult times. I know I keep talking about shadow work in my astrology posts, but, it’s a Capricorn Lunar Eclipse, and he rules the Devil card, so it comes up again.

​The Devil card is about the shadow and the ego. He shows us where we have attachment and fear. It’s the card of materialism and being addicted to stuff, like money. It’s also the card of bondage and enslavement.

All the shadow stuff that the US is currently facing that feels broken: capitalism at the expense of health, capitalist incarceration at the expense of justice, and attachment to money and greed over the well-being of the people.

The 8 of Cups is the card of Abandoned Success. It’s about walking away from toxic and abusive relationships. We can see the woman is walking away from the Devil, and what’s outdated, and Capricorn is the sign of the patriarch

The 2 of Coins is associated w/ Jupiter in Capricorn (at 23° now.) This card is about Harmonious Change. It will be a balancing act, but change is possible! I’m hopeful because Jupiter pushes Capricorn to expand from his constricting old ways. With the 2 of Coins there is fluctuation, and we will see the ebbing and flowing of change. There will be wins and losses. But, the point is that we keep working toward the change we want to see. 

We’re exiting the eclipse portal tonight (the 8 of Cups has an eclipse in it!) This eclipse season (that started in early June) has been especially intense and emotional, but the past month has brought forth an opportunity to transcend the shadow self, so we can finally look more deeply at the collective shadow, and do the work needed to heal and evolve. What is consciously being contemplated is resulting in quantum leaps of realization that initiates change.

This is especially potent now since the Sun is conjunct fixed star Sirius, the brightest star in the sky. So wish upon the Dog Star, Canis Major, tonight, my friends. Let’s wish that we are making changes that stick. I know they will not be overnight, but I’m hopeful that they are underway.
