Leo I Decan: Five of Wands, Saturn in Leo

​We enter Leo Season (Strength tarot energies) today. I’m exploring the 1st decan of Leo in the Minor Arcana. Leo I is associated with the Five of Wands, which starts today July 22 and ends August 1st. Put the Five of Wands on your altar or reading table during this time to see how it shows up for you.

The Five of Wands can reflect anything from disputes to competition. Because this card is considered the “Lord of Strife” we see struggle between two or more parties, but does not necessarily have to be negative, as we can look at this as friendly competition and sportsmanship, if we shift perspective.

When we look at the astrology in the Five of Wands, Saturn in Leo is not harmonious, which is why we often see disputes with the Five of Wands, “Lord of Strife.” Saturn is restrictive & stern and Leo is creative & warm, but both can express control. 

Saturn in Leo reflects a strong, self-confident and striving energy, but there can be feelings of suspicion and jealousy that come into play, as well as being inflexible. Hence the quarreling and drama that can show up with the Five of Wands.

With Saturn in Leo, there is self-realization work with interactions between the “I” and the other.

It can also be between the “I” and our creative output. Where we may struggle with our sense of purpose and only find value in ourselves if we have created something of value, or is seen as valuable to the outside world. Which is a total fallacy, but ingrained in many of us who were raised to believe it.

So for the next 10 days be aware of any conflicts that come into your sphere in connection to others, as well as your own self.

The lesson is to acknowledge the issues of concern without entering into the vibration. It’s okay to have a difference of opinion, and if the struggle is with your self-worth, I’d also declare that is also just a matter of opinion, which needs a rewrite.
