Tarot deck perfection. I'm so in love with the deck and the book. The images are evocative, symbology is perfect, and the book is excellent. As an awesome plus, the card stock is silky and beautiful, easily one of my top 5 decks. ~Rori M.

About the Tarot Deck
The Antiquarian Tarot is a working tarot deck—with Victorian flair—for the modern Magician and mystical Witch. A deck for old souls, past life connections and ancestral work due to the archivist nature of the artwork and study. It features handmade collages using 19th-century artwork & photography.
The cards are marked with astrology correspondences. The Major Arcana cards are also marked with the associated Hebrew letter. Both are based on the Golden Dawn designations.
This deck is largely based on the Rider-Waite-Smith (RWS) Tarot with occult influences from Paul Foster Case and a sprinkle of Crowley/Harris' Thoth.
Anyone with knowledge of RWS can work with the Antiquarian Tarot. If you're just starting to explore the tarot, many teachers recommend learning with the RWS, but the Antiquarian Tarot is an alternative if you want something with a unique design and antique aesthetic.

MORE ABOUT THE DECK The initial inspiration for the Antiquarian Tarot was the Albano-Waite Tarot, one of my first working decks. The principles of this deck are based on the RWS tarot combined with Paul Foster Case's work, which form the foundation for the Albano-Waite Tarot.
The Major Arcana's wallpaper is based on the colors that were assigned by Paul Case. The Minor Arcana is also derived from his coloration symbolism and similar to the Albano-Waite:
► Wands have orange backgrounds (court cards are red) to represent the Fire element. ► Cups are aqua (court cards are light blue) to represent the Water element. ► Swords are yellow (court cards are gold) to represent the Air element. ► Pentacles are green (court cards are violet) to represent the Earth element.
This system of colors makes it easy to determine which elements are predominant in a reading or which are missing. This is especially helpful for visual people and may help facilitate clairvoyance during a card reading.
Color has been used in ancient correspondences for eons. Humanity has it used in healing and magical workings with elements, planets, herbs, numbers, spirits and so on. So the use of color is significant in this tarot!

If you are a tarot novice, the Antiquarian Tarot Companion Guidebook will be a great introductory primer. If you are a seasoned reader, the book offers information about the cards describing the artwork and symbols. The guidebook includes appendices with tables and references for easy access to tarot information.
Much of modern occult wisdom was passed down through the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, which scores of decks & books have drawn from. My knowledge pulls from this, and Eastern healing theory, which I have studied at length as a licensed massage & yoga practitioner/student. In his early writings & studies, Paul Foster Case refers to Hindu philosophy a lot and this may be why I was first drawn to his work! This tarot's guidebook is largely based on the sacred tarot and occult mysticism—with a slant of my experience as a practitioner of the healing and mystical arts.
